Motor Dealerships

Inchcape Volkswagen West London

MCS recently completed their biggest audio visual project to date for Inchcape Retail Plc at the new West London Volkswagen dealership, a Centre of Excellence for the brand in the UK. With capacity for up to 90 new and used cars, extending over four floors with both sales and service on site, the purpose built showroom was designed to be a welcoming and inviting space for customers to consider their choice of new car in a modern, relaxed and comfortable environment. Our brief was to create a ‘Wow-Factor’ within this flagship dealership.

MCS based the video distribution on WyreStorm NetworkHD products, which allow centrally located sources to be distributed throughout the dealership and centralised remote control anywhere within the dealership via an intuitive user interface on an iPad Mini. It also provides for future flexibility so that the number of sources or output zones can be expanded with minimal impact. MCS’ extensive experience using NetworkHD and Enado together, results in a relatively swift turnaround in programming to configure control of multiple displays and other hardware.

MCS was responsible for the full integration and digital signage solution within the new three lane, drive-through bay featuring full ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) integration and processing.

A total of 23 displays were installed within the showroom area, all with full control and content routing.

The showroom also benefits from the new MCS wide-dispersion sound system, providing high quality ambient music throughout the showroom space.

Inavation Award Winner

MCS is immensely proud to announce our success at the 2015 inAVation awards held in Amsterdam in February 2015.

MCS was selected as the winner within the category Most InAVative Retail Installation, and the focus of our award was for our HD Networking solution deployed at BMW Durham.

Globally, this was the first such installation employing HD Networking technology within a retail environment and was selected for winner status on the strengths of its multi-platform integration approach. The MCS installation at Audi Tunbridge Wells followed closely the same concept and specification and was the focus of an in-depth case study published within the Jan/Feb edition of inAVate magazine. It was also the subject of a video interview with Marc Hatton, MD of MCS Ltd.

As the primary integrator to Inchcape PLC for both data cabling and audio visual (AV) systems, MCS has completed projects at more than sixty dealerships over the past eight years. We were delighted to be invited to tender for the provision of an AV content distribution system for Inchcape’s highly prestigious new Audi dealership being built in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

Building on past success in digital content and audio distribution solutions at various Inchcape dealerships across the UK, MCS was proud to deliver its most advanced solution to date. Fourteen LED displays were installed at various locations, back office and customer facing, within the dealership. Employing network HD technology, the dealership is able to dynamically assign content from across a number of media platforms to any combination of displays located within the dealership, providing an exciting audio and visual experience to its customers.

Our brief was to supply a truly flexible, integrated system capable of switching a broad variety of high definition video and audio sources across a network of fifteen displays.  This was achieved, together with an integrated control system which provides centralised control of the entire Front of House audio visual system as well as allowing the dealership staff to take control of local, individual displays when required.  There are six Customer Configuration Lounges where a sales assistant’s work is mirrored from PC to a 42" monitor.  This allows the customer to be fully involved as they watch their new vehicle take shape before them.  When not in use for configuration these monitors form part of the dealership’s network of displays showing information, news and advertising.  Flexibility designed into this system allows for very straightforward expansion in the future.  For a full description of this installation, see the Wyrestorm case study here.

The client wanted total freedom to show any source on any display at any time, from rolling corporate Blu-Ray video to live news channels in customer lounge areas, with the reliability of continuous switching and distribution demanded by one of the premiere automotive manufacturers in a flagship retail outlet. The capability of using a local source input such as a laptop was crucial in areas to be used for business events such as launches, presentations, seminars, training and conferences, with output synergy in the dealership being a specific requirement for corporate events to enable all screens to display the same content throughout the entire site.

Set across three floors, incorporating two car showrooms (BMW and MINI Cooper) with very different design aesthetics, plus large maintenance areas, Cooper’s of Reading was always destined to be an exciting and challenging building project – one that deserved an AV installation to suit its scale and retail gravitas.
