Harris Academy Morden
This project involved the complete redesign and replacement of the cabling infrastructure within existing school buildings to improve and simplify network administration. Comms concentration points were reduced from nine to four, with new Category 6 cabling and fibre backbone cabling installed throughout. Works were phased over a six month period to minimize disruption to the school activities.
Harris Academy Purley
MCS provided cabling services for the reconstruction of Harris Academy in Purley in association with Willmott Dixon. This project involved the installation of approximately 2000 Category 6 outlets throughout the new buildings, together with fibre backbone cabling linking 4 hub rooms.
Harris Academies
MCS has, since 2006, been the preferred data cabling contractor for Harris Federation, having completed comprehensive cabling projects at Purley, Beckenham, Peckham Park and Bromley.
We continue to provide our services across all other Harris Academy sites, including more AV specific installs such as interactive floor projector.
Brighton College
MCS continues to provide cabling installation service to Brighton College with recent projects including the installation of a new, campus-wide fibre backbone and the installation of Category 6 cabling infrastructure to the new Boarding House and the new Music School.
University of Sussex
MCS has undertaken cabling projects of significant scope and scale at the University of Sussex with individual projects ranging from 100 to 3500 outlets at various buildings including Falmer House, Sussex House, the John Maynard Smith (JMS) Building, the Genome Centre and the New Academic (Jubilee) Building.
Loxford School, Ilford, Essex
The new Loxford School was a £40 million, Pathfinder Project providing ten forms of entry for up to 2000 students in South Ilford. MCS installed more than 2400 Category 6 connections, multiple communications rooms and the fibre optic backbone across the site
St Paul’s Academy
The new school, St Paul's Academy, in Abbey Wood, was constructed on the site of the previous secondary school. MCS was awarded the contract for installing all data network cabling. This included around 1800 Category 6 outlets as well as fibre optic backbone. MCS was also responsible for the installation of the Audiovisual solution throughout the new building.
Chessington Community College
A brand new Pathfinder college with a £23m project value. MCS was engaged on the installation of data cabling, CCTV and security infrastructure for this new college. This included in excess of 1800 Cat6 data outlets, extensive fibre optic and Category 6 backbones, ICT and MCR room layout, rack installation and commissioning. In addition, through close liaison with our security partners, MCS undertook project management for all aspects of the CCTV security and access control.
Basildon Academy
Part of a £42 million Basildon Academies contract for Essex County Council, this project entailed part refurbishment and part new build of two federated secondary schools, Barstable School and Chalvedon School. MCS carried out work at the Chalvedon site. Our brief was to replace existing copper and install new infrastrucure with over 1000 Category 6 connections, dual fibre optic backbone and establish new communications rooms.
